Why sensor size matters ?

• Larger sensors introduce more dynamic range
• Larger sensors capture larger fields of view
• Larger sensors capture more light and will create less grain in lower light
• Larger sensors can capture larger resolutions with less megapixels
• Larger sensors will create images with larger file sizes

Does Megapixel count matter ?

• It depends
• Higher megapixel sensors are able to capture more detail in an image because of the higher amount photo diodes present in the sensor
• Higher megapixel count can introduce more grain into an image in low light settings though, especially with smaller sensors
• High megapixels images will be compressed to smaller megapixel formats when uploaded to platforms like Instagram and you will lose detail
• Higher megapixel images are much larger file sizes, especially RAWs
